About the Project
Hi! My name is Gia and I started this small business in November of 2020. I am a 29-year-old who works full-time in sports medicine. I am also a retired pageant girl who spent years in The Miss America Organization advocating for eating disorder awareness.
As someone who has recovered from an ED, I have seen how recovery has changed throughout my life. From high school to college to adulthood, my recovery has continued to change. I started this small business because of the plethora of people that I met who have gone through the same thing. Whether that be a clinically diagnosed eating disorder or someone who has always battled with their body image- there are SO many people who grapple with their image and eating.
Now more than ever, I wanted to create a forum and a space where people can hear the words "All Bodies Are Good Bodies" and truly believe this. I believe I have stayed in recovery because I have been realistic about my body. I know that I do not love my body every single day. I know that I don't have what society deems a 'perfect body'. What I do know is this: I have worked really freaking hard to have the relationship I have with my body. I achieve this through body acceptance. I accept where I am. I don't need to change where I am at- because I have worked hard to be here. And I don't have to spend my life chasing a lower number on the scale.
I hope you feel heard and seen when you visit this website & my social media pages. Welcome to The Body Acceptance Project family- where every size & gender is welcome.
